The Royal Opera House is a unique venue – home to The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House - that brings together the world’s most extraordinary artists in more than 500 performances each year in our two world-class theatres. 

There are a wide variety of event spaces available for hire, giving you the opportunity to host an unforgettable event in an iconic venue that is both historic and contemporary at the heart of London’s West End. All proceeds support the future of ballet, opera, dance and music at the Royal Opera House. 

Paul Hamlyn Hall

The Paul Hamlyn Hall, completed in 1860, was originally known as the Floral Hall and was part of the iconic Covent Garden flower market. Today it has become the main event space for guests and offers a unique space in the heart of the Royal Opera House.

Daytime Events

With its magnificent barrelled roof and ironwork, the Hall is ideal for those wishing to provide something unique for their guests. This light and spacious venue is perfectly suited for lunches, fashion shows, wine tastings, product launches and other daytime events. Hire of the Paul Hamlyn Hall also includes the newly completed Davies Terrace with its balcony over Bow Street.

Evening Events

The Paul Hamlyn Hall has been used for iconic evening events for more than 150 years and is now associated with some of London’s most glittering parties and dinners. As night falls, the true glamour of the Hall comes to life, and guests will find it difficult to resist an invite for an exclusive night at the Royal Opera House. The Paul Hamlyn Hall can be hired for all manner of evening events, including wedding receptions and private gala dinners. Evening availability is limited to only a few nights each year, meaning any event held here is instantly an exceptional occasion 

Crush Room

The Crush Room captures the historical splendour of the Royal Opera House and offers a traditional setting for smaller events.

Dating back to 1858, the Crush Room has been fully and carefully restored. It is adorned with 17th century Flemish artwork as well as two crystal chandeliers crafted from the original chandelier that once hung in the centre of the Main auditorium.

It is an impressive venue for smaller conferences, launches and lunches, particularly during the day. The Crush Room can be hired along with the Dorfman Conservatory next door for a larger guest capacity. As the rooms are used to host the audience on performance nights, evening availability is limited.

Dorfman Conservatory

Situated above the historic carriage entrance on Bow Street, the Dorfman Conservatory elegantly accommodates drinks receptions and smaller functions.

Gallery

The Dorfman Conservatory marries the history of the old carriage entrance on Bow Street and the modern architecture introduced to the Royal Opera House during the Open Up Project. The bar has been restored to its original 1899 position and the space modernised. It benefits from its position next to the Crush Room which can be hired in addition for larger guest capacity.

Piazza

Offering views over Covent Garden as well as over the Paul Hamlyn Hall, the Piazza comprises of 3 distinct areas that can host a variety of events.

Piazza (Restaurant, Terrace and Bar)

The Piazza Restaurant, Piazza Terrace and Level 5 Bar are situated on Level 5. Together they provide a versatile space for larger standalone events, or as an additional space perfect to combine with a seated event in the Paul Hamlyn Hall. Individually the Terrace can be hired for more intimate events.

Due to the Piazza Restaurant and Level 5 Bar being used to host the audience on performance nights, evening availability for these spaces is limited.

Piazza Terrace

With uninterrupted views over Covent Garden, The Terrace is a light and airy outdoor space right in the centre of London. It is covered and heated, offering a comfortable alternative for smaller events.

The Linbury

The Linbury Theatre and Foyer is one of the West End’s newest and most intimate theatres, suitable for a range of events.

The auditorium offers versatile seating and stage layout options, providing a comfortable setting with good views. It is perfect for awards shows, conferences and other special events. Hire can include green rooms, dressing rooms and technical support.

Due to our busy performance schedule availability in the Linbury is limited, meaning any event held here is a unique experience.

Foyer

Redesigned in 2018, this light and open space is perfect for smaller standalone events or for registration, reception and breakout space for events in the Linbury Theatre. It has its own bar and cloakroom.

Royal Ballet studios

This suite of studios functions as the hub for the dancers of The Royal Ballet during the day and can be yours by night. They offer original, alternative spaces for dinners and receptions.

Gallery

These simple white spaces provide a canvas ready for you to create memorable events for your guests. Complete with ballet barres, mirrors and a grand piano, guests can soak up the Royal Opera House’s theatrical atmosphere and enjoy these remarkable spaces.

Due to the studios being used daily for rehearsals, availability is limited to the evening only.
